Choosing Studio Roles


Choosing everyone’s roles in the group was a fairly easy and smooth process. Everyone had the freedom and trust to choose what job suited themselves best based on their skillset. As a group we listed jobs that we thought a firm would need but also what jobs we would need doing in order to finish the submission. These jobs included CAD specialists, human resources, people updating social media accounts, presentation co-ordinators, design co-ordinators and research co-ordinators.

For those that will lead the studio, we decided to elect those with experience in leadership and good organisation skills. Others picked the job of website design because of their skills in graphic design and their previous experience of designing a website. Those who chose to present our work have decided to take on this role because they are confident at speaking to large groups of people and will be able to communicate our ideas clearly. Those of the group taking on the social media (Instagram specifically) and the blog will be keeping these platforms updated with our working and design processes. These two jobs need both creativity and writing skills to communicate properly. We also realise that we are a team that is working together which means helping each other out where we can with any work that needs completing, to meet our deadlines on time.

Within a few days of laying out the jobs that were thought to be essential to our process, everyone in the group had a role within Archi4. Following on from our zoom meeting on the 19th February, the job roles were roughly grouped together and each group of jobs branched off into break-out rooms to further discuss how the tasks could begin and the deadlines could be met. As well as a main WhatsApp chat for Archi4, each job subgroup has a WhatsApp chat to discuss jobs in further detail.

We are confident in the way we have organised role allocation as the most effective way we can work happily and efficiently as a team.
