First Group Presentation 04.03.21
Our Presentation
For the first presentation that our group was to present, the
presentation co-ordinators made sure that it communicated all the information
that the brief asked us to include. This included details like practice name, our
ethos or manifesto and statement of the legal business structure, details of
everyone’s roles and responsibilities and confirmation of how we will record
the process for the submission.
On the next page, our ethos is written at the top and the
legal structure of our business is communicated in a clear diagram at the
bottom. During this page, Luke talks about how our ethos reflects the common
themes that everyone in our group stands for such as sustainability and improving
local communities. Then, to give some background on our business structure diagram,
he explains how everyone got their roles in the group.
Page three discusses how our group is communicating. It
explains that we are meeting as a group each week and what happens at every
meeting. Our itinerary and notes from the latest meet are written at the bottom
of this page just to give an idea of what we generally discuss. Luke talks
about how the group WhatsApp is used for quick discussions about the group work,
but the big discussions generally take place on zoom, 10am on a Monday.
The fourth page of the presentation shows a screenshot of
our website, then underneath is a paragraph about the website and how much Archi4
is spending on it. Eléonore then
takes over the presentation from Luke and talks about what the website contains,
what will be added to it in the future and then discusses how we are using the
£100 budget the university is giving us to pay for it.
Screenshots of
our blog and our Instagram page are exhibited on page five and Eléonore
discusses how both platforms will be used. Our blog will be for recording our
process, whereas the Instagram will be used more to show off the Archi4 team
and our work.
The presentation
ends with a small paragraph about how we chose our legal structure to be a
partnership and how that works for us. Eléonore ends on a positive note
by saying how we have been working well together and how we look forward to developing
designs together as our team progresses with our submission.
Feedback on This Presentation
After we presented the details of our practice and the
development we have made, we were given verbal feedback on our studio practice
set-up.
Overall, our presentation was very well-received as it has
clear graphics and a consistent layout which we will continue to use throughout
our process work and the final competition boards and exhibition design.
To improve our work, it was suggested that we look further
into Foster + Partners and the way that they organise their firm in order to
refine our legal business structure. They clearly identify their partners, and
it was recommended that we do the same with our firm.
Another point that was mentioned is the possibility of
including the details of our brand making process in our competition boards to
show how we were able to come together to create an identity that represents all
our members well.
We will take these points into consideration as we continue
to make progress with our studio practice and the exhibition design.
