Initial Exhibition Ideas
We presented initial ideas for the Eldon Exhibition in the meeting on 17th March. The opportunity to present exhibition ideas for our final design was open to everyone in the group, whatever our jobs. We ended up with enough designs to give us a good vision for our final project.
These sketches are very conceptual, and demonstrate a number of different ways to design our exhibition.

This design is more of an immersive, reflective space, for visitors to sit and take the work in for more time than they would for a walking exhibition. This idea is more friendly for elderly visitors and for those that cannot stand or walk for long periods of time.
This layout design is a more simple idea and it has a good circulation route, starting at the front doors and looping round, so that people can exit via the same doors. This works very well for wheelchair users. The sketch underneath depicting a tunnel and booth structure would help visitors to focus on the work being presented.
These floorplans for the exhibition are very abstract and can be viewed easily from the outside, through the windows. This rounded design makes it easier for wheelchair users to navigate having no sharp corners to turn and even offers a place for visitors to store their belongings as they explore the exhibition space.

This model is a very simple and modern design. The lighting is well placed to give the work a glow and draw the attention to it. Cords that are barely visible can be used to the give the illusion that the work is suspended and this makes the overall exhibition design a very light contemporary aesthetic.

This rhino model takes on the abstract qualities we wanted for the exhibition design very well. It's shape is very organic and natural but the structure is quite simple, most probably made from interlocking computer cut components.
