Sketches to Renders

Looking at the initial ideas that various members of the group put forward (see post titled Initial Exhibition Ideas), on a zoom meeting, our team had a look at the pros and cons of each design idea. After this, the design team had a meeting together to think about what we wanted for the exhibition and then produced these sketches of our ‘tree design’.

The design considers the existing space of the Eldon building including the pillars within it, as the exhibition structure work with them. It uses the columns as part of the structure and then branches out from these and displays all the design work. It is a very open layout for good circulation and having work displayed on all sides of the structure lets people view it easily, even walking past on the street outside. The design is simple but well thought out.

From these sketches and the Rhino model of the Eldon building interior, the rendering team were able to create a render for the design. This render just shows how well our design fits into our given space and how much we have considered it for the design. The render also displays the texture of wood that we have chosen to use, how well the light entering the Eldon building interacts with the structure and how simple the timber frame of the design structure is.
